Hard to figure how Armstrong would cave. The USADA sets itself up as prosecutor, judge and jury independent of statutes of limitation, regardless of urine test results, and as the bully on the block they are extremely vulnerable legally to anybody with deep pockets and determination.

Was Armstrong wanting to limit damage? Is he having a recurrence of cancer? What happened to the political plans?

There may be more to this than meets the eye. There may be legal tactics involved. We'll see. Maybe.

In the meantime, check this out. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/othersports/lance-armstrong-vs-usada-what-are-we-to-believe/2012/08/24/62940afa-ee0a-11e1-afd6-f55f84bc0c41_story.html

The WP writer expresses my own feeling, that if one passes one passes and no entity should be able to go back and second guess.

Is there some kind of limit on how far back they can go? And some of the leaked "evidence" concerned things said to have happened back in the 1990s before Armstrong won a TdF. What relevance does that have? Only to show that he has lied in the past? How does that prove anything about what happened years later?

Lance said in "Not About the Bike" that after recovering from cancer he would not put any chemical in his body that might do it harm. I always took that to mean that he did use drugs in his early career. But that should have nothing to do with his TdF wins.

And what pressures were brought and promises made to those who testified in secret? Did they intimidate Hincapie to get his to damn Armstrong, if in fact he did?

I trust the USADA as much as a redneck sheriff in Mississippi in the 1960s.

As for the "evidence," we haven't seen it. The USADA had their way and made their decision without having any hearing or public testimony. Pseudo justice in smoke filled back rooms...

NO due process.

Not that I am convinced of Lance's innocence.
